This module searches for Obsidian vaults for a user, and uploads a malicious community plugin to the vault. The vaults must be opened with community plugins enabled (NOT restricted mode), but the plugin will be enabled automatically. Tested against Obsidian 1.7.7 on Kali, Ubuntu 22.04, and Windows 10.

To display the available options, load the module within the Metasploit console and run the commands 'show options' or 'show advanced':
msf > use exploit/multi/local/obsidian_plugin_persistence
msf exploit(obsidian_plugin_persistence) > show targets
...targets...
msf exploit(obsidian_plugin_persistence) > set TARGET < target-id >
msf exploit(obsidian_plugin_persistence) > show options
...show and set options...
msf exploit(obsidian_plugin_persistence) > exploit
Time is precious, so I don’t want to do something manually that I can automate. Leveraging the Metasploit Framework when automating any task keeps us from having to re-create the wheel as we can use the existing libraries and focus our efforts where it matters.
